Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for Experienced Tradespeople
Question | Answer |
---|---|
1. What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)? | RPL is a formal assessment process where your existing skills, experience, and knowledge—gained on the job—are assessed against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification without the need for classroom study. |
2. Who is eligible for RPL? | If you have 2+ years of trade experience in Australia or overseas and can provide evidence of your work (e.g. photos, references, job history), you may be eligible for RPL in your trade. |
3. Which qualifications do you offer via RPL? | We currently offer the following Certificate III qualifications via RPL: Carpentry, Concreting, Painting & Decorating, Wall & Floor Tiling. |
4. How does the RPL process work at your RTO? | Once you apply and pay a deposit, we provide simple evidence forms and checklists. Submit your evidence remotely, and one of our experienced assessors will review it. If successful, your qualification will be issued. |
5. What kind of evidence do I need to provide? | Evidence may include photos/videos of your work, resumes, references, job descriptions, pay slips, licences, or previous qualifications. We provide clear guidance and forms to make this easy. |
6. How long does the RPL assessment take? | Once all your evidence is received, most assessments are completed within 2–4 weeks. Times may vary depending on how quickly you provide complete evidence. |
7. Do I have to attend any classes or practical assessments? | No classroom attendance is required. Our RPL process is fully remote and evidence – based. If further evidence is required, we may conduct a short technical conversation. |
8. How much does the RPL process cost? | The total cost is $2,950 per qualification. A $500 deposit is required after your application. The balance is payable after successful assessment, before certificate issuance. |
9. Is licensing support included? | Yes. We offer free licensing guidance for successful RPL graduates to help them apply for their builder or trade licence in their relevant state or territory. No other RTO includes this. |
10. Can I complete more than one qualification through RPL? | Absolutely. Many of our clients apply for multiple trade qualifications. Discounts may apply for multi-qualification packages—ask our team for details. |
